White Leather

Dearest Third Cousin,

White leather is just so great, it feels really fresh and its such a nice change from black. If your on the hunt ebay is your friend, there are some stunning and quite affordable items on there. I may be purchasing a cropped white leather jacket very soon.

Bling Ring

Dearest Third Cousin,

Not too much to say, I just love these images from this Dazed Digital shoot featuring some of the cast members of the Sofia Coppola's new movie The Bling Ring. How great is the styling? I would wear everything head to toe and be a very happy chicken. If you have a chance you should read Nancy Jo Sales Vanity Fair article about the 'Bling Ring' burglaries, I promise you its worth the time, here's the link.

Dearest Third Cousin,

Summer time, is a time to run free, explore, bear some skin and make some sweet memories.

5 things I want to do (more of) this Summer:

1. Yoga
2.Get a tattoo
3. Attend a music festival
4. An internship
5. Write (more)

And for any of you lovelies that have some exam stress coming up here is a beautiful guided meditation from  Melissa Ambrosini .

Fringe Fancy

Dearest Third Cousin,

"I always tell the girls, never take it seriously, if ya never take it seriously ya never get hurt, ya never get hurt, ya always have fun, and if you ever get lonely, just go to the record store and visit your friends"

-Penny Lane, Almost Famous

I recently bought the jacket of my dreams and it seems my dreams are filled with images of groupies and their amazing style. I'm 99.9% sure the jacket is from the 80's (perhaps late 70's) but I just love me some 70's groupie! I feel like Pamela Des Barres would approve!

I want to wear this jacket with stacked platforms, flimsy fabrics , embroidery, crochet, skin tight hot pants, day old band tee's and a care-free attitude. Perhaps not the most A/W appropriate attire but the weight and warmth of the jacket alone are enough to keep an average sized village warm.

The construction and quality of the piece is mind blowing. Its a once in a life-time find that I will cherish forever.Thank you Shutterbug for finding it. I will give it a very good home.

Below is a little visual insight into my groupie dreams.

If you go down to the Woods today...

Dearest Third Cousin,

Today I was seduced into the woods by the two Swedish pipe pipers called First Aid Kit. Lead from the safe comfort of my lodgings we explored themes of lust, loss and legend.

Oh the bitter winds are coming in and I’m already missing the summer

Star comes cold but I’ve been told I was born to endure this kind of weather

When it’s you i find like a ghost in my mind

I feed it and i gladly wear the crown

Some editorial loving

Dearest Third Cousin,

How magical is this editorial from Dazed and Confused February 2011. The sensuality, the effortless styling and the intimacy between the models. It is stunning and thought provoking. I really get a sense of a raw emotion jolting from these images. Also I would wear every piece of clothing featured.

Rock ,paper...ah i've fallen in love..

Dearest Third Cousin,

Thank you for the post on Wednesday, I think your campaign may be successful!

I have fallen in love with Rock Paper Vintage. They are an amazing online seller of great vintage clothing .However the styling of their clothing is impeccable and has been a major source of inspiration lately. I have been swooning over their facebook pictures for a rather considerable amount of time. To put it simply I WANT please <3

I have now added all of the above to my wish list, however they have been sold. So I shall be on the hunt in Cork (as soon as I am free from the shackles of study) for some clothing similar to that featured above. Hello turban and sequins!

Rock Paper Vintage you may be the reason for my exam repeats but at least you have my heart and have I inspiration.

Dress up dream # 4

Dearest Third Cousin,

I've stumbled upon these photos of the one and only James Franco posing for Candy magazine shot by Terry Richardson. They have really got me thinking about androgyny and masculine/feminine dressing.

Both Franco and Richardson are known for pushing boundaries in their respected fields and I love how androgynous dressing pushes gender boundaries. The feeling I get from these photos  its the same feeling I get when I button up a shirt the entire way or wear any typical masculine piece of clothing, its a lot of fun and quiet a daring look that often lets a second glance or two. Its one that does require a certain attitude and a nice bit of confidence.

I love the play on gender all these ladies are showcasing. Each image shows a diferent repsonse and variation on a theme. I love how a subtle detail can transform an outfit and while franco is quiet literal in his response I think a single masculine item can transform the aesthetic of an outfit and the mind of the person wearing it.
